Swatching For Signs

I just wanted to give you a quick update before I disappear for a few days since my final exams for this year started today OTL
The other day the swatch-books I'd ordered nearly a month ago finally came through! (ﾉ´ヮ´)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧ In case you're wondering what a swatch-book is: essentially it's a book full of small squares of various materials so you can get an idea of what the material will feel like.
Since my prints are all being printed in factories and then sent to me, that means I won't have the ability to check the materials beforehand, so I ordered these swatch-books so I could have an idea of what the pieces would feel like and how the colours would come out once printed (´._.`).｡oஇ()
That said, picking materials based on these little squares was a lot harder than I thought! ( *´罒`* ) For lolita dresses, silhouette is so important so its really essential that the material is soft enough to fall in the right manner but also suitable for a dress/skirt... Honestly it actually took a lot of thought and I even had to look up some brand dresses and see which materials they tended to use (thank goodness for Lolibrary!) ♥(ˆ⌣ˆԅ)
In the end I decided on Cotton Sateen and Chiffon as the main materials. Cotton Sateen is soft and light and it breathes well so it'll be suitable for summer, whereas its also strong and holds pigment very well so the print shouldn't fade. Likewise Chiffon is even lighter but holds colour even better as its polyester, it also falls beautifully and feels sooooooooo nice (♡´艸`)
That said, of course these aren't cheap materials so I had to make sure I could maximize the use of each material, but I definitely think the price of the materials will reflect in the product prices; well, at least you'd be getting your money's worth! (´,,•ω•,,｀)
I really want to make dresses with the same level of professionalism and quality as you would from any of the big brands, so I'm trying hard to make my dresses both respectable and affordable. I hope you guys will feel the same? ( > . < )
