Stuck in a Tight Situation

Hey guys, Fola here... ヽ(;▽ ;)ノ

Remember what I said about hiccups in the road? Well, today I realised that they don't just apply to my sewing (´;ω;`)

Today a package came in the mail and I was super excited; I knew it could only be one of two things: the swatch book I'd ordered from a fabric printer, or the prototype of the tights! (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))

In order for the tights to look professional I knew I'd have to have them printed by a 3rd party manufacturer rather than doing it myself, so I'd ordered a pair from a company I had found online. And honestly, there were definitely many good points about the tights: they were soft, strong and the colours came out amazingly, but there was one major problem:

They were misprinted... (o_ _)o

Now when I say misprinted, I don't mean to say that they weren't printed right; the pattern was exactly what I had sent them, but the problem was, they didn't flip the pattern on the other side of the tights. This meant that rather than having one fully striped leg and one fully checkered leg, each leg was striped on one side and checkered on the other.

Now, while that wasn't the look I was going for, honestly speaking? I didn't hate it! In fact, I was even considering leaving it that way if it wasn't for one thing: the massive bleed line where the two patterns joined. No matter how you looked at it, it looked awkward and messy, which simply wasn't good enough. (Not to mention I also later noticed that the crotches on the two colourways I had ordered were different which was not cool either(;¬_¬))

All in all it was a sloppy job, which honestly was a bit disheartening, especially since I'd paid a fair amount for them and I now had to find a new manufacturer and order some more prototypes which I hadn't factored into my very tight budget.

To make matters worse, I then found out that my back up manufacturer only shipped to the US and their website was down. The shipping matter I could easily sort out with a shipping service as a medium, though that would increase the production costs even more, but I honestly couldn't wait around for them to put their website back up, especially since there was no indication of when that would even happen...

Determined, I took to the web and fortunately I was able to come across one more manufacturer where I could get custom tights. Their design capabilities area tiny bit limiting so I will still need a new manufacturer for future designs, but fortunately they seemed to be perfect for this particular design! ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و

I placed my order (this time for just one colourway) and now it's all a matter of waiting. I must say, the preview did look a lot more convincing than the last manufacturer I used, so fingers crossed the real product lives up to the same standards.

I'll keep you guys posted and let you know when the new prototype comes in~

Until then, God Bless,

Love Fola ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
