Starting Up My Sewing Machine
Hey Everyone, Fola here again~ ( ゚▽゚)/
So a big part of the functionality of Heaven's Atrium is that I'm going to be personally sewing a lot of the skirts and dresses that are going to be sold here; which in theory is a great idea~ It makes every single item just that bit more unique, and each item gets filled with love (and I don't have to pay a manufacturer ( ◞・౪・) hehehe~)
Really, the only hard part is the fact that I haven't sewn in a good year... ☚(゚ヮ゚☚)
Now, fear not! I took a year of textiles back in Secondary school and I've worked on a few DIY projects since then, not to mention I'm pretty sure I can thread a sewing machine with my eyes closed ೕ(・ㅂ・ ) ...but I will admit, I was nervous at first.
The first few designs I decided to start out with are pretty complex, or at least, more complex than anything I've sewn before, and while I am confident in my sewing abilities, I'm also human ((´∀`;))
I'd figured out the 'theory' behind how to sew each design, but of course I knew the practical side of things is always harder, so I decided to make a prototype of one of the designs~ I bought some cheap fabric, cut out my pattern pieces and began sewing, trying my best to act as though it were the real thing.
Of course, I made a lot of mistakes along the way, but I was able to learn from those mistakes too. I figured out what my weak points were and which techniques I needed to learn, and from there I figured out a fool-proof plan on how to make the actual skirts I'm going to sell~
I absolutely won't sell anything that isn't up to standards, since my inner-perfectionist wouldn't allow it - and it's not like these skirts are cheap either (;^◇^;)ゝ But seriously, I'm the type who likes to do my absolute best and I have no problem admitting I'm not perfect, because that only means I acknowledge I have room for improvement.
In this journal I'm going to be sharing some of the hiccups I encountered along the way with my prototype and how I fix each of them and learned from my mistake. Hopefully that'll also give you guys an idea about just how much I care about this brand, and also inspire you to not beat yourself up over small mistakes or things you can't do, but figure out a way to get them done! (^ω^)
Anyhow, that's all I have to say for now; while I sew I'm waiting for the prototypes of the tights to come through the mail, so hopefully we'll have something exciting to talk about soon!
Until then, God Bless! Love Fola ヾ(。^ ω ^。)
